Happy Summer! My husband and I recently took a long weekend trip to Traverse City, MI and it was fabulous! He just finished up his regular school year of teaching and we both deserved some time away to unwind, enjoy the beautiful weather, and eat some amazing food. Traverse City has all of those traits to offer…and so much more.
I cannot say enough about the restaurants in Traverse City. We were fortunate enough to eat at some of our favorites and discover a few new ones. The list of our favorites include:
- Red Ginger
- Trattoria Stella
- Pangea Pizza
- North Peak Brewing Co.
- Towne Plaza

One of the new discoveries during this trip was the beautiful vineyards and wineries that are located along the peninsula. Its about a 20 mile ride along the water and boasts some of the most spectacular scenery around. Some businesses offer wine tasting tours; this is an adventure that we will save for our next trip. We visited Left Foot Charlie’s for the first time during our trip. They specialize in white wines, have friendly and informative staff, and a few snacks available to pair with your wine all wrapped up in a beautifully relaxed setting (that used to be a laundromat for a hospital). A must visit; be sure to take a bottle of wine home with you.
If you are looking for a new destination to visit this summer look no further than Traverse City. We have stayed several places but highly recommend staying downtown which will allow you to walk to all the unique and eclectic shops/restaurants. We have been visiting at least once a year for the past several years and it is beginning to feel like a second home…I can’t wait to go back.
